7 Days in Waikiki 🌺

Oahu literally stole my heart! The air smells like plumeria and the ocean is so blue it looks fake. Here is every single tiny detail from the best week ever!

Day 1: Alooooha!

Landed at HNL! We got lei’d at the airport (so touristy but I loved it). Checked into the Moana Surfrider—the "First Lady of Waikiki." We walked straight to Duke’s. I ate the famous Hula Pie (macadamia nut ice cream with a cookie crust) and watched the catamaran boats come in. The sunset was pink and purple!

Day 2: Diamond Head & Bowls

Woke up at 5:30 AM (jet lag is real). Hiked to the top of Diamond Head. 762 feet of elevation and 99 concrete steps at the end! My legs were shaking but the 360-view of the crater and the ocean was 10/10. Grabbed an Acai bowl from Island Vintage Coffee afterward—they use local Lehua honey!

Day 3: Surfer Girl Era

Took a lesson from a beach boy at Queens Beach. I actually stood up on a longboard! I felt like a pro until I fell and hit the reef (ouch). Spent the rest of the day at the International Market Place under the giant 160-year-old Banyan tree. Dinner was Musubi from 7-Eleven—don't judge, it's a gourmet snack here!

Surfing Queens! 🏄‍♀️

Day 4: North Shore Roadtrip

Rented a car and drove up the coast. Stopped at Laniakea Beach and saw 5 giant green sea turtles just chilling in the sand. Ate garlic shrimp at Giovanni's (I signed the truck!) and grabbed a Leonard’s Bakery Malasada (portuguese doughnut)—the haupia filling is everything.

Day 5: History & Honor

Visited Pearl Harbor. The boat ride to the USS Arizona Memorial was very quiet. You can see the "Black Tears" of oil still leaking from the ship after 80 years. It was really emotional. Afternoon was spent shopping at Ala Moana Center (the world’s largest open-air mall!).

Day 6: Fishies & Snorkels

Early morning at Hanauma Bay. It’s a protected nature preserve. I saw the Humuhumunukunukuapua'a (the state fish!). The coral was so bright. We spent 4 hours in the water until our fingers were pruney.

Day 7: Sunset Catamaran

Last day ritual! We went on the Maitai Catamaran (the big pink boat). They serve drinks on board and the wind blows your hair everywhere. Finished with a Luau dinner—Kalua pig cooked in an underground oven (Imu). A hui hou, Waikiki! I'm crying already.

Paradise Found! 🐚

Mount Rushmore 🇺🇸

The Great Faces

The Black Hills of South Dakota are so mystical. Seeing the 60-foot heads of Washington, Jefferson, Roosevelt, and Lincoln carved into the granite was breathtaking. We walked the Presidential Trail—0.6 miles of boardwalk and 422 stairs. You get so close you can see the pupils in their eyes! Did you know Lincoln's nose is 21 feet long?

Ice Cream Alert: I had the "Thomas Jefferson" vanilla ice cream. It's the first ice cream recipe ever recorded in the US. It’s super rich and custardy!

Colorado Springs 🏔️

Garden of the Gods

The red rock formations are out of this world! We saw the Kissing Camels and the Balanced Rock (which looks like it’s going to tip over any second). The rocks are 300 million years old! We did the Perkins Central Garden Trail which is easy and super scenic.

The Manitou Incline

RIP to my legs! 2,744 steps straight up. It's an old cable car track. You gain 2,000 feet of elevation in less than a mile. People do it for fun, but I was dying! The view from the top of the Cog Railway path was insane though.

Pikes Peak Summit

We drove the 19-mile Pikes Peak Highway to 14,115 feet! The air is so thin you can't even run. I ate a high-altitude donut at the summit house—they have a secret recipe because regular dough won't rise up there. If you take them back down to the city, they turn into little bricks! 🍩
